As well as enjoying the practical aspect of cutting technique, Butchers with a customer-oriented outlook, great interpersonal skills and passion for food will thrive in this industry. As well as dealing with suppliers and wholesalers – communicating with customers about how cuts of meat can best be enjoyed is a rewarding feature of this career.

Our Butchery unit standards will introduce students to what a career in Butchery might look like. Our resources will help develop the fundamental skills such as meat selection, presentation, storage, stock control and more.

To become a Butcher, you’ll need to complete an apprenticeship and gain a New Zealand Trade Certificate in Trade Butchery – Skills4Work are the only provider in New Zealand to provide Butchery Training. For more information about our Apprenticeship programmeget in touch.
