4 Day Course

To stay ahead in this increasingly competitive world it's crucial we learn how to work smarter. This course teaches how to move your maintenance away from traditional, and in many cases inefficient, preventative maintenance routines by adopting more advanced techniques. With the focus on Reliability Centred Maintenance and condition monitoring we teach you the skills you need to determine and implement the best method of maintenance for plant and equipment. Learn how to analyse equipment and plant data then put in place the most effective maintenance routines.

Unit standard outcome:

Successful completion of this course leads to unit standard 26565 - Demonstrate Knowledge of Maintenance and Reliability of Mechanical Engineering Plant. Level 5, Credits 10. This unit standard can be used to partly satisfy the General & Maintenance engineering strand in the National Certificate of Mechanical Engineering Level 5 or the Electrotechnology strand in the National Certificate of Electrical Engineering Level 5 (advanced trade)

To be assessed for this unit standard you will need to:-

  • Complete classroom exercises throughout the course
  • Pass an exam on the last day
  • Complete and pass a project in the workplace within 2 months of completing the course. E-mail support is given to help with this

  • Identification of how equipment deteriorates
  • Applying standards to maintenance activities
  • Application of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)
  • Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Using structured decision logic to analyse current and determine future maintenance tactics
  • Condition monitoring techniques
  • Collecting and analysing equipment and plant data
  • Using plant data to increase reliability
