CPR - Cooperative Production Reliability
To be truly effective at manufacturing it's essential that production and maintenance are working closely together to produce a quality product for the least possible cost. This on-site training programme has been developed to overcome communication barriers between maintenance and production, enabling both departments to work towards greater productivity through reliability and efficiency improvements. Skills4work trainers will empower staff from both departments to work together to develop a sustainable programme of operator based maintenance.
Purpose
To increase reliability and productivity by teaching maintainers and operators why equipment fails and what can be done to reduce failure. This includes:
- Why assets fail
- Maintenance tactics and failure patterns
- Establishing basic equipment condition & operating context
- Importance of governance and KPI’s
To facilitate the development by operators and maintainers of basic equipment care tasks for operators, leading to:
- Greater equipment reliability
- Higher degree of asset ownership by operators
- Freeing up of maintenance resources allowing more focus on predictive and proactive maintenance strategies
Achieved though:
- Identification of improvements to workplace organisation through the use of 5S and Root Cause Analysis
- Examination of assets to identify existing faults
- Carrying out Root Cause Analysis of identified faults and current reliability issues
- Reviewing current SOP's and analysing their effectiveness
- Joint development of basic equipment care tasks for operators
Programme construction
- One half-day start-up workshop with managers
- Series of three one-day workshops with the focus on workplace organisation; reliability issues; fault identification & elimination and development of basic care tasks for operators
- One half-day review workshop with all involved in the programme
Critical for success
- Support of the programme at a minimum of department head level
- Continuity in staff members taking part
- Introduction of programme to a manageable pilot area for initial implementation
"The major difference between a thing that might go wrong
and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing
that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong,
it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair."
