ATNZ Apprentice Plan

What's in it for the Apprentice?

Career Guidance

Sometimes its difficult to know what career to embark on when there are so many options available. Skills4Work takes the time to talk to each apprentice candidate, assess their personal qualities, skills and provides advice on a clear career pathway before entering the workforce.

Personal mentor

Every apprentice is assigned a personal Co-ordinator whose job is to mentor and coach the apprentice through their apprenticeship. These people are qualified tradesmen who have "been there" and "done that" and can provide valuable advice, support, encouragement and motivation to keep studying and completing the apprenticeship.

They also act as a mediator between the apprentice and the seconding company if any issues arise.

When you sign up with the ATNZ Apprentice Plan and pass all the tests, Skills4Work finds a job for you with a suitably matched company.

The Employer

The ATNZ Apprentice Plan frees the employer from any employment worries or paperwork hassles. Skills4Work becomes the employer of the apprentice, advertising, interviewing and assessing the apprentice. The apprentice is then matched with a seconding company for the duration of the apprenticeship.

Local Co-ordinators that are experienced tradespeople visit the worksite every month to check on the progress of the apprentice and liaise between the company and the apprentice acting as mediator if any issues may arise.

This monthly visit is vital in helping motivate the apprentice achieve and make a strong contribution to the company they are seconded to.

Skills4Work is responsible for:

"Six apprentices in 5 years. I like having a co-ordinator to guide and push the apprentices along, with reasonable costs and excellent results, leaving me to focus on business" Rodger Wyatt, Airdynamix Ltd - Christchurch
